Takht-e-bahi mardan kpk tourist place in mardan (heritage)

(Takht-e-bahi mardan kpk)
Located about 15 km from Mardan and 80 km from Peshawar, Takht-e-Bahi is considered one of the most well-structured Buddhist monasteries in Gandhara district. It has ruins of an ancient Buddhist monastery on the top of a hill. The monastery is believed to date back to the 2nd or 3rd century AD. The site has rectangular court and the small shrines that surround the stupa-court. The shrines are classical example of fine design and architecture. The hill offers magnificent views of the surrounding area. In Sanskrit, Takht means "well" and Bhai means "on a high surface" so the word means "well on a high surface". It is listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 1980.
It is really a wonderful place to visit for those who love history, antiquity and archaeology. The architecture and its engineering is of high class. A tour to Takht-I-Bahi is not only about history but also offers a wonderful opportunity to know and understand the culture of the region.
